29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards Daytime Nominees

Soap opera honors.

Soaps.com has details for this year's 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which were first established in 1989 with the awards show debuting in 1990. The ceremony will take place on Thursday April 12 at 5:30 PM at The Beverly Hilton at 9876 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California and on Saturday May 5 at 5:30 PM at the New York Hilton Midtown at 1335 6th Avenue in New York City, New York.

Daytime nominees were announced live this morning from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah for accurate, fair and inclusive representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and include:

Outstanding Daily Drama:
"The Bold and the Beautiful"
"Days of our Lives"
"The Young and the Restless"

Last year, as with the year prior to that, The Bold and the Beautiful received GLAAD’s sole nomination and therefore took home the award for the storyline surrounding Rick and Maya Forrester’s quest to have a child via surrogate through her sister Nicole Avant.

Some of the aspects that are looked at when picking nominees include ‘Boldness and Originality’, an important ‘Cultural Impact’ and ‘Overall Quality’ of a project. The voters are broke down into three groups consisting of GLAAD staff and board, GLAAD Shareholders Circle members and GLAAD volunteers and allies (previous special honorees, key media industry allies and event production teams).

Soaps.com will announce the winner when they're revealed and we wish the soaps the best of luck!

In case you missed it, take a look at this year’s 2017 Writers Guild of America Award nominees, with winners set to be announced in February, as well as the air date for the 45th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony.

Kyler Pettis bids farewell to DAYS

by Kambra Clifford

Days of our Lives' Kyler Pettis (Theo Carver) shares a goodbye message with his Salem fans.

Kyler Pettis last aired as Days of our Lives' Theo Carver this week and took to social media during the tough time to share a special farewell with fans.

“I am so filled with emotion after watching the final scenes I was able to play as Theo Carver,” he posted on Twitter. “I want to take this time to thank everyone at DAYS for opening up the door to some amazing, embarrassing, and hard work that I was able to experience being on set with some of the hardest working actors in the business. I want to thank all the fans that have shown me love, especially the acknowledgement if the honest portrayal I worked hard on as a young adult on the autistic spectrum. I was honored to represent you and your approval of me means more than you know.”

He continues: "Lastly, I'd like to thank the man Theo himself for showing me that no matter what life throws at you, your heart and spirit are the strongest tool we have on this journey called life. I thank you. I love you. Goodnight!”

Fans aren't the only ones upset about Pettis' exit from Salem. His costar Sal Stowers (Lani Price) spoke with Soap Opera Digest about how devastating it was to say goodbye to her on-screen sibling.

“Lani and Theo built a very close bond and in real life, I adore Kyler so much,” she shared. “We started at the same time and I watched him kind of grow up a little bit. He was just always so pleasant to work with. We look like a real brother and sister, which is crazy, and we got along so well, which made it really easy to work with him. I remember our first episode together. Even though we both didn't know what we were doing because we were still so new on the show, it was just a really sweet, innocent scene, two characters finding their love for each other because they just found out they're brother and sister. So we kind of grew together on the show and off the show.”

Pettis joined DAYS as Abe and Lexie's SORAS'd autistic son in 2015. News of the actor's exit broke in August last year.

Fans know that Andre isn't the only character that Penghlis has played in the past. Rumors abound that Tony DiMera could be brought back or that Andre's faking his death. Stay tuned for more.

Christie Clark makes a return visit to "Days of our Lives" as Carrie Brady Reed when her mother Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) needs her help. Clark hasn't been seen on "Days" since February 2017 when she and Austin (Austin Peck) visited during Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve's (Stephen Nichols) wedding on Valentine's Day.

Christie Clark's Carrie Brady returns to DAYS to bail out her mother

by Kambra Clifford

Posted Saturday, January 20, 2018

Popular Days of our Lives actress Christie Clark is bringing Carrie Brady back to Salem for a story involving Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley).

Days of our Lives fans will soon be getting a delightful blast from the past: Christie Clark is reprising the role of Carrie Brady.

The actress, who took on the role of Sami's sister in 1986, is rumored to be returning to Salem for a story that has Carrie's mother, Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley), desperate for her daughter's help. It was revealed earlier this month that Anna's recent return to Salem will be heavily connected to her first husband, Roman Brady. Might trouble be brewing for the ex-spouses?

No other information about Clarks' return has been released at this time, including when Carrie will pop up in Salem, how long she's expected to be back on the canvas and whether or not the character will be joined by her hubby, Austin (Austin Peck). As fans may recall, the last time Carrie was seen in Salem was back in February of 2017, when she and Austin returned to town to attend Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve's (Stephen Nichols) intimate Valentine's Day wedding.

Though many fans would love to see Clark back at DAYS full-time, the show has a habit of bringing Carrie back for short stints only, which she doesn't seem to mind. As the actress once put it, DAYS "is the gift that keeps on giving for me."

DAYS head writer teases a rather outrageous year ahead

by Kambra Clifford

Days of our Lives' head writer, Ron Carlivati, dishes on the creative license the NBC soap gives him to tap into his crazy and outlandish side.

There won't be any fast-forwarding through Days of our Lives scenes in the year ahead, because head writer Ron Carlivati promises a bevy of material that plays perfectly to the NBC soap's history of campy storylines.

Years before he was hired at DAYS, soap fans buzzed about the Emmy-winning writer being a perfect fit for the series. After all, both he and the show are famous for a style that is over the top yet remains true, entertaining and captivating.

"I had heard that [some fans believed I was a perfect fit for the show], and there is a certain vibe of what I had done in the past at One Life to Live or General Hospital where you could say, 'That might work on Days of our Lives,'" he shares with Michael Fairman. "I was, of course, aware of all the big crazy things that happened on the show like Marlena (Deidre Hall) being possessed by the devil and levitating, or Hope (Kristian Alfonso) turning into Princess Gina, etc. Not that I was going to come in and do stuff that was necessarily so crazy and over the top, but knowing this is a show that had done those things, and that the audience might go with you if you do it right was intriguing. That was kind of liberating to me; to go in and be like, 'I could unleash my outrageous side a little bit here.'"

Carlivati is keeping mum on what specifically he has up his sleeves for 2018, but he does promise it's going to be just as entertaining -- if not more so - than what viewers have seen the past six months.

"Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I want to keep up that momentum," he says. "We have my first original character coming on [Tyler Christopher] and I want to shake things up a bit. Basically, we are not putting our foot on the [brake]; we are putting our foot on the gas."

For more from Carlivati about his plans for DAYS, check out Michael Fairman's interview with the writer here. http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/days-...17/2017/12/30/

If you've ever doubted that someone at Days pays attention to social media, they reworded the problematic points of the promo for twitter lol.

This week on #DAYS: They've been best friends for years, so why is John poisoning Steve?
